PWC marked the anniversary of the historic People Power Revolution with a community gathering honoring the legacy of collective action, democracy, and people-led change.
The event brought together PWC’s neighborhood caring community (barangay) members, youth leaders from Rising Tides, and longtime community advocates to reflect on the significance of the 1986 uprising in the Philippines, when millions mobilized to restore democratic institutions through largely peaceful protest.
The anniversary of the People Power Revolution highlighted how the spirit of People Power continues to resonate across generations and movements today. Through storytelling, cultural performances, and dialogue, participants revisited the lessons of the revolution and discussed their relevance to present-day struggles for justice, human rights, and civic participation.
PWC’s Community Empowerment team (the organizers of the event) emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory while building collective power in local communities.
"We are called not just to remember, but to reconnect with history, with each other, and the enduring power of collective action,” expressed the PWC’s Community Empowerment team.
