Celebrating Filipino Heritage: PWC Cultural Team Curates National Arts Month Exhibit at PCGLA

In celebration of National Arts Month, the Office of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles (PCGLA) unveiled a special exhibit curated by the PWC Cultural Team—an effort to preserve and uplift Filipino culture and artists within the community.

At the heart of the exhibit is a thoughtfully curated Filipiniana display led by Pilipino Workers Center’s resident artist, Valentino Bernardo, and fellow Filipino artist and curator, Celina Duffy. The showcase highlights traditional garments, textiles, and visual elements that reflect the depth and diversity of Filipino identity. Through this collaboration, the PWC Cultural Team played a key role in ensuring that Filipino artistry remains visible, celebrated, and accessible during National Arts Month.

Among those present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, Malou Villacisneros, Cultural Director of PWC, and Yey Coronel, Executive Director of Filipino American Service Group Inc. (FASGI), along with artists and community leaders.

Organizers emphasized that beyond a visual display, the exhibit represents a broader commitment to supporting Filipino artists and safeguarding cultural traditions for future generations. By lending its creative leadership and community partnerships, PWC continues to affirm the vital role of the arts in strengthening identity, storytelling, and collective pride.
